Liposuction (lipoplasty) is the most popular body contouring procedure worldwide. It permanently removes localized fat deposits that are resistant to diet and exercise, sculpting a slimmer, more defined silhouette. Modern liposuction techniques are safe, precise, and capable of producing dramatic contouring results with minimal downtime.
The tumescent liposuction technique involves infusing a saline solution mixed with epinephrine and lidocaine into the fat before removal, significantly reducing blood loss and providing analgesia. Power-Assisted Liposuction (PAL) and VASER ultrasound-assisted liposuction offer enhanced fat emulsification for improved contouring in fibrous areas and excellent skin retraction.
Liposuction is performed under local anesthesia (for small areas) or general anesthesia (for larger areas or multiple zones). Small cannulas are inserted through 3–4 mm incisions and used to suction the fat. The procedure takes 1–3 hours depending on the number of areas treated. The removed fat does not return, making results permanent — provided weight remains stable.
Patients wear a compression garment for 4–6 weeks. Swelling is most significant in the first 2–4 weeks. Most patients return to work within 5–7 days. Final liposuction results become fully visible within 3–6 months as all swelling resolves and the skin contracts to the new contour.
